The Jesper Lundgaard trio was established in 2004, and consists of Danish musicians Jesper Lundgaard (bass), Hans Ulrik (Tenor) and Niclas Knudsen (Guitar). The trio describes their music as a musical playground where they try out new compositions and salute the masters of the history of Jazz.


Jesper Lundgaard was born in 1954 and has played both double and electric bass since he was 16. He studied music at the Aarhus University from 1976. Active as bass player at local Jazz Club Tagskægget, he had the opportunity to meet American musicians such as Dexter Gordon, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Roy Eldridge, Joe Newman, Benny Waters, Bud Freeman, Hal Singer, Harry Sweets Edison, Thad Jones, Mel Lewis, Stanley Cowell, Pepper Adams, Howard McGhee, Doug and Jimmy Raney.
