about

"I have known Richard for many years. We worked together in Count Basie’s Orchestra in 1967. We teamed up years later in a quintet and I found him to be a top jazz vocalist with his own unique style. Count Basie realized this many, many years ago. After listening to this CD, with Richard singing with both big bands and small groups, I’m impressed by what a fine job he did putting this record together. Richard is truly a versatile performer and it is a real pleasure to hear all these different recordings throughout the years. Richard, you’re a great artist. It’s been a pleasure playing with you. Thanks for putting this great music out." - Al Grey
