Bud Powell«««««Politiken DK Review in all about jazz click here BUD POWELL/IN COPENHAGEN A longer visit to Copenhagen early in 1962 proved to have a very happy effect on Bud Powell. Playing at the recently reopened "Café Montmartre". Bud Powell could be almost exuberantly present – even to the extent of singing on his last nights at the club. And his piano playing would often reach unexpected heights of expressiveness which can be heard on this very fine recording from 1962. Rifftide, Bouncing With Bud, Move, The Best Thing For You, Straight No Chaser, I Remember Clifford, Hot House, 52nd Street Theme Cat # 1018518 Barcode 717101851829 The very fine « Storyville » label reissues a new serie called « In Copenhagen », remastered with class. These are from rare live concerts made by famous americans musicians visiting Denmark. Jean-Michel Reisser, Lausanne, Switzerland Bud Powell This is one of the best later days performances live of this genius of the piano. He’s in a very fine form here, which was fairly very rare at that time of his life. This recording is one of the very first of very great NHOP; he only was 18 at that time of the concert ! Can you really believe it ?! Incredible but truth. This album is a Must. Audio Samples soon!
